Two big doubts for Rangers while forgotten man returns…

Graeme Murty reported mixed news with both what he did say and did not in an update over player injury status.

In positive news, veteran defender Bruno Alves has finally made the trek back to Auchenhowie following an extensive rehabilitation in Portugal from a calf injury he sustained against Celtic, and could be in contention for selection over the coming matches, while youngster Ross McCrorie is reported as progressing well, albeit no time scale has been produced.

Meanwhile Declan John’s injury sustained at Firhill remains in ‘assessment’ stage and it is unclear if the Welsh international is in consideration for the trip to Ayr. We know on-loan QPR man Sean Goss is a doubt, having received a boot to the face for his troubles against Partick, but Ryan Jack will be out for potentially months having received surgery a week ago.

Jordan Rossiter may have returned to light training in recent weeks but seems to have disappeared since, being absent from subsequent sessions, albeit got in some minutes with the development squad, but Kenny Miller is reaching full fitness and has returned to full selection. Graham Dorrans continues to recover from his operation and has been working on his fitness in separate sessions.

Lee Wallace remains AWOL as he works on his fitness following his second op over the winter.

Missing:

Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans, Lee Wallace, Ross McCrorie.

Doubtful:

Declan John, Sean Goss, Jordan Rossiter.

Returned:

Kenny Miller, Bruno Alves.
