Rangers to make million pound player ‘swap’


In news which will please most fans, Rangers are set to complete a pseudo-swap for two million pound players.

Reports today confirm Rangers have upped the bid for Brighton’s Jamie Murphy, to a seven-figure sum much more in line with their valuation, while Preston, who outlets claimed were done with their interest in Josh Windass after having a £500k bid rejected, are set to increase it to the million pound sum Rangers want.

It would mark a literal swap for Rangers on the left, with Windass leaving for around a million to Alex Neil’s men, while the ex-Motherwell winger Murphy would arrive from down south for about the same.

It further enhances Rangers’ options on the left, with the imminent return of Lee Wallace meaning Declan John and Murphy will vie for that slot. It would mark the strongest the left flank has been since well before admin (Sone Aluko and Matt McKay were the best Ally McCoist’s SPL Rangers had on that side) and would give Rangers fans quite a boost for the new year.

Management has clearly decided not to settle for just John and Wallace on that side, and this signing as well as the sale of Windass is evidently one of the many changes the board hopes to make this transfer window.

A trivial further boost is all three of the left sided flankers are current of former internationalists. And Rangers certainly have not had enough of them in recent years.

  1. I think Murty will keep Windass it’s the supporters that are trying to get rid of him. That said if Windass goes why bring O’Halloran back as it’s same position as John & Murphy 🤔 The Buffalo needs somebody to link up with and Murphy is to lightweight to be played as a striker.. Only need about 3 signings to improve the first 11 – right back- combative midfielder – striker…. Be interesting the next two transfer windows but the Board needs addressing before start of next season…

  2. As much as I would like your report to be true, I find it interesting that Wigan are allegedly willing to go to a million – who exactly is telling you this ? Which then makes me think – if a team in England can see a million pound player there, would we not be better to keep him until the summer ? Personally I don't see a million pounds there and would be extremely grateful if someone wanted to give us that amount for him.

  3. Yes I love that but Wallace ain't nowhere near as good as John going forward but Wallace defends better.
    Great 3 fighting for 2 shirts.

    Would suggest if we're keeping Tavi we do exactly the same on the right, sign a hard RB and that gives us the same option on that flank.

    Need to find a nr 10 and a striker.
    Fuk knows what's happening at CH.
    Murty and Allan can sort all that shit out.

    Don't know about U all but I'm so looking forward to February 3rd against fibs at Ibrox with hopefully half a new team.

  4. I think if we get Murphy they cud potentially play him off merelos up front n Jamie walker hopefully will cum in n will b up up against john for the LW position n wen Wallace is fit he will slot bck in at LB.
    that’s wat we need better quality competition so for the left side you have 3 players that can play LW Murphy,john n Walker.but Murphy in my opinion wud b better playing off merelos, I think they cud complement each other very well with merelos holding ball up n Murphy with his pace n skill running off him n both are gd finishers n 3 players that can play LB Wallace john n beerman left side totally sorted. It looks like we cud b going for Jordan jones think he’s LW so maybe walker won’t b coming if we get him either way wud b happy with either.

  7. Wallace is horrendous. Keep John at left back he's far stronger front and back. If Wallace were to return one thing he definitely should not get is the captaincy; he's no onfield leader he's too quiet and his performances suffered under the pressure. Far better Holt or Wilson get it who aren't afraid to be in the thick of it and lay down the law.

    • Hear hear. Wallace SHOULD never gi straight back into anywhere.
      Before injury he was woeful.
      For 4 years it's been common knowledge.
      Wallace and Tav are NOT Full backs.

      Any player btw Leaving Glasgow Rangers should go for respectable money

  8. Are we missing the obvious flaw. If King doesn't have the 11M for takeover panel how are we going to afford this guy?
