English giants set to make seven-figure bid for Rangers star; reports

After dropping a huge hint that he sees Josh Windass as part of his future plans at Ibrox, manager Graeme Murty better be braced for further bids coming in for the in-demand striker following Leeds United’s entrance into the bidding war for the 23-year old.

Windass is said to be in talks for a contract extension, and has been a-near ever present under Murty, while scoring a healthy chunk of goals, and such form saw Wigan have a bid rejected, before Preston had the same.

But the Elland Road side are on the cusp of being a Premiership team, being well in the hunt for a promotion play off place, and do not lack resources. Thomas Christiansen is eager to snap up Windass and suspicions are that he will have the backing to make a serious seven-figure bid for the ex-Accrington man, one Rangers would find hard to reject.

For his part Windass has reportedly stated his preference is to stay at Ibrox, and a recent poll on the site marginally favours that too, but anything above £1.5M comes in, we suspect Rangers may just accept.

With Jamie Murphy, Jason Cummings, Michael O’Halloran and Daniel Candeias to name just four, Rangers are certainly plum with options for the winger and attacker position, so there is plenty cover should Windass leave, and indeed Rangers’ lack of desperation to sell could attract a much more lavish bid too.

More on this story as we get it, folks.

  1. Josh Windass is going nowhere, he loves playing for Rangers and has said so – he is developing into a really good player and Murty has stated that they are in talks about his contract. I think if we could keep hold of him for another couple of seasons he will be worth a lot more than he is currently.

  2. I agree that he is playing well and has all the tools. My problem with him is that it fine having all the tools if you are going to use them ,but if he was to continually pull out of 60/40 challenges(in his favour) then he will cost us when it comes to crunch games where everyone has to stand up and be counted,I am sure he will continue to do some nice things going forward but I would not put a lot of trust in him

  3. Anything over 1.2M bite there hands off then straight on the phone and buy Docherty & Tyler Roberts Cash!!
800K Docherty 400K Roberts, get that done and I'll be over the moon, Cant wait to see Roberts in a Rangers top.
Make sure we get a 10% sell on price for Windass and move on!!
We paid 60K for him from AS that's good business for me every day of the week!!

    • We should b lookin at Hyndman to finish our midfield best player we had that season an doesn't seem to b gttn his game anywhere

  4. Believe the windass release clause is 3.5m so unless that comes in its got to be a thanks but no thanks it's time we stopped undervaluing our player jon toral was sold for 3m last summer yes jon toral James maddison who was on loan at Aberdeen is being quoted at 20m so as for windass I'd give him a new improved long term deal with a buyout of no less than 10m

    • JMF.
There is no way on God's earth that we put a 3.5M clause on a player we paid 60K for from Accrington fuking Stanley.
Don't know where half the pish that actually gets spouted about comes from!?.

    • Pretty sure we did been reported by several sources since he signed and the 60k from AS well that was compo just like the dembele 500k doesn't reflect they're true value

  5. We should be lookin at anattacking midfielder that knws the club can't believe no ones even mentioned Emerson Hyndman was our best player that year

  6. Leeds have absolutely no chance of promotion this season. None whatsoever. They won't make a play-off place.

  7. Don't sell. We will only lose out on a proper bid in 18 months or so. And even then we might not want to sell

  8. As before keep our best players and only sell the dross as for a price then it is around 1million for scottish and scottish based players that do not get goals here and more if they score in Europe and 5s and 10s of millions if they do it in CL
