Major injury doubt passed fit for Old Firm

Declan John has been passed fit to face Partick Thistle tomorrow and could well face Celtic on Saturday, following the confirmation club captain Lee Wallace will miss both fixtures.

There had been doubt following a small injury post-Firhill on Tuesday, but the Welsh international has resumed training and should be fine for the second part of the Thistle double header tomorrow.

It had been logically speculated that NI international Lee Hodson could fill in for both he and Wallace, but now it seems John will take his place tomorrow night at left back, leaving Kenny Miller as captain and the ex-Killie full back on the bench.

Responses to the on-loan Cardiff man’s performance on Friday were mixed, and he will be hoping, should he (likely) be selected to start, that he enjoys a slightly smoother match rather than the unexpected cameo he made last week.

But should his services be required, Hodson will remain on standby.

  1. Think ad rather have Hodson start …. my team for sat also…..

    Wes
    Tab,Cardoso,Alves,Wilson,Hodgson
    Candese,Rossiter,Jack,Windass
    Dorrans, El buffalo

    What you think guys??

  2. For mall the fans who have wanted Wallace dropped we will see on Saturday how we will miss him or prove your right that he is playing poor I personally think he is massive loss

  3. Play 3 at the back with Tav and john covering the WB positions. This could be a high scoring match though because neither team can defend very well. Hope Morelos is sharper than Dembele and or thumb heed on the day.

    • I hope you're referring to Thistle not having a good defense.

Celtic's defense looks rubish against PSG, Man City, Barcelona, etc. However against SPL sides, they're a totally different animal. Last season they conceded only 25 league goals and also won the League Cup without conceding a single goal. Their form through 6 games this season is just as formidable, conceding 3 times (a rate of 19 over the full season).

The day we defeat Celtic, the score will be 1-0 or 2-1. It's suicide to try and get into a high scoring affair with them right now.

  4. Whoever is at the bsck for us, they need to watch those low cross-balls..we got caught out vs Thistle, and its hardly the first time. Why do we have so much trouble at the back?? Wes cant or wont cover everything, and its up to an organising defender like Alves to get the defence in shape. I miss the Gers "Iron Curtain" of the Seventies..

  5. Get rid of the manager, all our defensive troubles will be gone. Not the players who are shite as weve seen recently with ohalleran etc. We will always be a mid table team under pedro!

  6. Not the players who are shite. Poor manager results in poor performances. Always going to be a mid table team under pedro. Not a chance of beating Celtic in the current state as they are miles ahead of the rest of the league who we struggle to beat. Since the 5-1 game does anyone believe we are better? Answer is not a chance
